DIY Corn Husk Wreath

It's time for another wreath!  I like my sunflower wreath so much, I kind of don't want to take it down... But I guess it is time to start looking toward fall :)

You will need:
  • 11 inch foam wreath
  • 4 large ears of corn
  • Straight pins galore
  • Ribbon
Take two ears of corn and pull off the husks.  Then, using straight pins, pin the husks around the wreath, covering it entirely.

Hang it up to dry.

Two days later, your corn husks will have shriveled up.  But thanks to an early devotion to Project Runway, we knew that would happen (thank you, Austin Scarlett)!

Take your other 2 ears of corn and husk them.  Pin the fresh husks around the open patches on the wreath.  You can gently remove and reuse some of the straight pins from the first round.  Hang it up to dry.

Two days later, it should be all shriveled up again, but this time mostly covered.  If there are a few bald spots, just gently pull up a few straight pins and rearrange the dried husks.  You can do another round of fresh husks if you want, but I just tried to strategically place my worst bald spots at the back of the wreath where no one would see :)

Now, take your ribbon and wrap it around a section of the wreath, pinning it in place (this is another chance to hide some of the empty patches).

Add a bow, and you're ready to hang it up!

My house looks ready to welcome autumn now.  As long as it comes with Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
