In keeping with my goal to make more crafts out of left over supplies, I've got a new little project for you: embroidered canvas!
I bought a multi-pack of canvas a while back, but most of them went unused. I also had lots of left over embroidery thread from making my felt heart book marks. Add in a little paint, and you've got everything you need for this simple craft!
You will need:
- Embroidery floss
- Paint
- Small canvas
- Pencil
- Needle
Then, pencil your design onto the canvas (I found my design idea on Pinterest). If you're doing letters, you will need to draw on the front of the canvas. If you're making a design, however, you can draw on the back to keep it tidy. Be sure you account for the wooden frame behind the canvas! You can't embroider through it :) I forgot this important detail and had to redraw my image!
Then, go to town following your lines with your embroidery floss! I decided to use all three of my leftover colors, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
I'm planning on revisiting this idea around the holidays...
Have a great weekend! And, be sure to stop back in tomorrow for my weekly Saturday Snapshot :)
This is so cute!

So cute. I have an old canvas that would be perfect for this project.

I, for one, cannot do bubble letters. I struggle with just that! I tried to paint a canvas at Christmas and it looked like a 5 year old did it. Sigh. Your canvas turned out great!

This is soooo cute! I can see this being super adorable for childrens rooms too, like to have a canvas embroidered with their birth day/weight/etc.
