I spent today in Dublin's City Center shopping/browsing with Elizabeth. She bought a much needed hat and I bought a not so entirely necessary pair of shoes.
They are fabulous, as you can see, and for 90 euro they had to be fabulous. To be fair, I have spent this amount on shoes in the past and I do keep my shoes until they are absolutely unwearable (holes, no tread on the soles). I also had decided before coming abroad that one thing I was definitely going to buy was a pair of fantastic shoes. However, I always thought that the great new shoes would come from Paris or Rome, not Dublin. So, I now find myself in a shoe dilemma.
They have a 365 day shoe return policy, so I can traipse around in my new kicks for as long as I please so long as they remain in resellable condition, and in all truth, I have no plans on wearing them until I get home- the rain has already injured one of my favorites! Could you all weigh in? Yes to the shoes or no?
I think I need to see a picture of you modeling the shoes and the mini top-hat at the same time. Only then can I make an informed decision.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... They are pretty fabulous, and definitely not something you would normally find over here. I would say keep them in resellable condition for awhile in case you find something even more fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteDefinetly keep in resellable condition but, defintetly keep looking...you can't NOT look in Paris and Rome!! Who knows maybe you'll find yet another pair:)
ReplyDeleteThe shoes themselves are definitely keepers. I do, however, appreciate the value of a good story, and "These shoes came from Paris," is a good way to start a shoe story. I say hold onto them and see what Paris/Rome has to offer. If nothing, then keep the shoes, and when you wear them in the US just tell people, "Well, you know, Dublin IS the new Paris." Then roll your eyes and walk away.
ReplyDeletewell it depends on what you're going for. If you're going to a gorgeous pair of shoes that only shoe freaks will realize are super chic, then do Rome or Paris. If, however, you're going for "flippin fabulous shoe" you cannot go wrong with what you have there!!! They are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteFinal update on the shoes: I returned them. I also bought a pair of flats in Rome and a pair of amazing heels in Dublin for 63 euro less than the one pair bought. Good decisions all around!
